It’s Emmy nomination day!

Will “24,” which won the top drama Emmy last year, find itself shut out?

What about “Desperate Housewives”? Have Emmy voters wised up the idea that it’s not a comedy? Or good?

I have some confidence that “The Sopranos” and “Lost” and “House” and “The Office” and “30 Rock” and “Ugly Betty” and “Two and a Half Men” will do just fine this go-round.

“Heroes” might make out OK. So might “Friday Night Lights.”

But what of “Battlestar Galactica” and “Veronica Mars” and “Rome” and “The Wire”? Can we assume that Emmy will treat these amazing series rather less well?

The nominations get announced Thursday morning at 5:40 a.m. Pacific Time. If I fall asleep before then, I encourage the talkbackers to post the nominations and/or tinyurls linking to those nominations. Eventually I will wake and paste them into the main article.

i think if anyone from the show should get nominated it should be Michael Hogan.

I hope so, it deserves it. Especially since it is heading into it's final season.

The answer is 'no.' Sorry to dash hopes, but according to reports, the show was not a finalist for consideration in either Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, or Best Supporting Actress. I believe at this time the only hope we have is for Mary McDonnell.

One would hope it will at least get nominations in the visual effects category. They do have one of those, don't they?

Directing and Writing are nice. If the show doesn't win for Visual Effects for Exodus II, something's wrong.

Very interesting, when did a scifi show get four EMMY nominations the last time(if ever)?

I've heard statements that the one Peabody award was worth more than any Emmy they would ever get. But it's clearly an event with penetration directly into sales. I mean, when did you last see a DVD add with a 'won one Peabody' on the front?

Well, it'd be nice to see Ron pick up an emmy. Good to see Exodus II getting some recognition.

Regardless, across the third season, some truly award winning moments. Good luck Sci-fi people !

By "Ron" you probably mean if he wins any of the four. However he is directly nominated for Outstanding Writing. Things are definitely leaning towards The Sopranos on that one since they have 3 of the 5 nominations...

Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series

Battlestar Galactica • Occupation/Precipice • Sci Fi Channel • R+D TV in association with NBC Universal Television Studio
Ronald D, Written by

Lost • Through The Looking Glass • ABC • ABC Studios
Carlton Cuse, Written by
Damon Lindelof, Written by

The Sopranos • Kennedy And Heidi • HBO • Chase Films and Brad Grey Television in association with HBO Entertainment
David Chase, Writer
Matthew Weiner, Writer

The Sopranos • The Second Coming • HBO • Chase Films and Brad Grey Television in association with HBO Entertainment
Terence Winter, Writer

The Sopranos • Made In America • HBO • Chase Films and Brad Grey Television in association with HBO Entertainment
David Chase, Writer

But you never now. A couple years ago, SciFi Channel had 4 out of the 5 nominations for Special Effects, but lost to, errr.... LOST.

Darn, Heroes got 8 nominations ... not fair.

But cool though that quite scifi heavy shows seem to be picking up pace in this arena. Lets restate the question, when did a space opera get four nominations the last time?smile.gif

Writing and Directing Emmy nominations are awesome. Has BSG gotten any before?
