I stopped reading The Wanderer because it was too boring, now I'm on The Caves of Steel by Isaac Asimov and I finished reading Secret War by Brian Michael Bendis and Gabriele Dell'Otto and Silver Surfer: Requiem by J. Michael Straczynski

The Hunger Games.

I'm decades past the target demographic, and I didn't expect to like it. I have a few quibbles with it but overall it was entertaining. Looking forward to the movie, because based on the production personnel and the casting it just might end up better than the book. It would have been interesting to see this story told by someone more experienced. It needs to be a bit more gritty and edgier.

Finished reading The Pastel City a few days ago plus I also read Seige by Brian Michael Bendis and Siege: Thor and Thor: Siege Aftermath both by Kieron Gillen. Now I'm on InterGalactic Awards Anthology Vol. I edited by Orson Scott Card.

The other half has just finished Hunger Games & really enjoyed it. I may be tempted to give it a whirl. Apparently the idea came from a Japanese novel written way back in 1999. I don't think you can get the original in English but the Japs did make a film of it in 2000 which is available with sub-titles (Battle Royale it was called).

Don't know quite why, but while I'm between library books I've decided to re-read Trilby by George Du Maurier in which Svengali hypnotizes the young artist's model Trilby into becoming a great performer.
