A few months ago this website conducting a poll for the best TV show caught the eye of some of us over on FFF.net. Firefly was in 8th place far, far behind the leaders. Since then we've managed to muster enough support to pull firefly up to 5th and closing fast on the leaders. Still a good bit behind the top two though.

Heres the deal, you go here: http://richlabonte.n...vote/index.html and you check Firefly and hit vote. Then you come back an hour later and do it again. Thats right, you can vote once an hour. Of course, this makes it more of a yelling contest between fanbases but don't you want Firefly to be the loudest? Heres the kicker. Right now Bonanza is in second. You heard me, Bonanza. And someone over on the bonanza boards (still shocked that those exist) gloated "we squashed Firefly like a bug." If that doesn't make your blood boil I dont' know what will. So help out the best **** show in the 'verse and go vote, then give this thread a bump.

I hate to rain on this parade, but I find these sites suspect. If this were with TV guide, Sciffy or another legitimate site I would say GO! GO! GO! however, something stinks in these types of sites.

I suspect they are elaborate ways of either:

1. Collecting email addresses
2. Gaining entry into your computer
3. Loop-hole ways of gaining money through google-ad type placement

Honestly, I know we all want to support our beloved Firefly, but be careful out there. There are people with less than honest objectives...and " http://richlabonte.net" is far too suspect.

Appreciate the concern, but all the ads seem to be for non profits or this guys own fan fiction. I'm gonna keep voting till Firefly is number one.

If you go on the FAQ, you'll see the only thing the site collects is an IP address. They don't make you enter your Email address (else I wouldn't do it), and they don't use cookies (they're not lying; I checked).

So either it's an absolutly brilliant scheme to collect multiple copies of many, many IP addresses, or it's a voting site.

Plus, if it wasn't legit, why would Amazon give them an affiliate store? Amazon doesn't have a habit of dealing with quack sites, even the frequently visited ones.

So yeah. I'm gonna keep voting.

Edit: Oh no, I just saw my member status - "Mansquito"? NO!!! ...What's funny is that less than an hour ago, I posted on a thread on the IMDB board for The Golden Compass saying that Nathan Fillion would be awesome as Lee Scoresby (yes, I know, he's already been cast, and it's Sam Elliott) referring to Mansquito as a horrible Sci Fi original movie in response to somebody saying they hoped that Sci Fi would do an original Sci Fi movie of Firefly. I mean, Sci Fi is a great channel, but their made for tv movies... BLAH.

But if they revived Firefly or some series about the Firefly 'verse, with the original cast and Joss involved, well...

I'd love to see a SciFi channel original movie sequel to Serenity, or a mini series. Anything. Granted the majority of ScFi's original projects have been ***** look at what happens when they get good people behind them (Battlestar Galactica). I don't think Fox should get any credit for how good Firefly was, so as long as Joss and the cast are behind, Firefly will be amazing no matter what channel or distrubtor is behind it.

The Mansquito is a posting designation??? Howcome they (PTB) would bother to come up with new and original "first posters" designations, but wouldn't change us that hae been busy in the 'vers?

I mean, I get that I have to do over 600 to be someone special, but I'm still 'stranger' and I'm pretty sure a few folk can recognize me by now, even if a few on other lists are not happy wiht my particular opinoion....

Welcome, Ethwi!! we are all happy to see any newbies!! I've only found the 'verse in the last, what is it, six or eight months now... I just dropped off a set to my friend in CA for Thanksgiving... and I'll be posting a set of the FF to Iraq where her husband is stationed... boredom leads to browncoats!! goofy, but it'll work for me!
