Dynamite Entertainment is publishing a comic-book series based on our Battlestar Galactica series. The comics' author, Brandon Jerwa, and the actor who brings Tom Zarek to life, Richard Hatch, are here for a live Q&A on the Battlestar Galactica forum, scheduled for Friday, January 5, at 8:30 p.m. ET, 5:30 p.m. PT.

Dynamite will give away 10 autographed copies of Zarek #1 to participants.

Tom Zarek: The Revolution Within #1 reveals content from Zarek's own novel "The Revolution Within," which for the first time chronicles the origin of Tom Zarek and the Sagittaron colony. The four-issue series shows Tom's beginnings as he grows up in a loving home in a slave state, and alongside a Cylon work force--all in the run-up to the First Cylon War. It's through these humble--and tragic--beginnings that he becomes the man we see in Battlestar Galactica today and this is where you'll learn all about him!

Guests are welcome to watch the Q&A as it happens right here in this thread on Friday. If you'd like to ask questions yourself, take a few seconds to sign up as a forum member. Registration is free. Click here to sign up.

Of course we're biased, but
Tom Zarek: The Revolution Within is Jerwa's most poignant and powerful work to date. It's illustrated by Adriano Batista, and features stunning, cinematic covers by both Batista and Stjepan Sejic, with a street date of Wednesday, December 28.

Brandon Jerwa (www.brandonjerwa.com) is a Seattle-based comic writer. After breaking into the industry and writing several years' worth of G.I. Joe books for Devil's Due Publishing (G.I. Joe, Front Line, Master & Apprentice I & II, Snake-Eyes: Declassified), Jerwa was recruited by Dynamite Entertainment to co-write Highlander with Michael Avon Oeming.

Brandon Jerwa has written several articles for SCIFIpedia:

Battlestar Galactica Comic - Number 1.

Thanks for posting the news, admin! Brandon is extremely excited to be doing this chat, and he hopes you'll all show your Galactica love in the comic shops this Thursday!

In case you didn't notice my previous thread, you can find preview pages for # 1 right here:

http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=9245

Brandon also recently interviewed Tom Zarek himself - Richard Hatch - and we're hoping to have that interview (which is nearly 2 hours long) up in audio form or text soon! We'll keep everyone posted regarding the location and availability of the interview!

This comic was listed in the Comic Previews catalog a couple months back. i ordered both available covers and I'm thrilled to know it will be hitting the shelves soon. - ordered at Fantastic Planet, plattsburgh, New York

Also the story in the new Battlestar Galactica limited series was AWESOME...as a fan I had been thinking about other stories and my thinking was very much along the same as your story line...almost creepy like you knew what I had been thinking...especially concerning Zak Adama... Anyway Great Job, please do more.

oh and how would a fan go about getting signed copies...?

My husband and I are huge comic book fans/collectors. We presently have over 10,000 mostly modern age with a few silver age.

I wish I could get ahold of Zarek #1 before the Q&A but there are no comic shops in my neck of the woods so I have to order it online. I have the first 3 BSG's though, (#0, #1, #2) and I'm looking forward to the whole series.

The character of Zarek intrigues me, I would like to see a lot more of him this season. It will be interesting to see what makes him tick.

Will the Q&A on Fri be in this thread or is there some special place on SciFi that y'all do these things?

Brandon Jerwa here, using my manager's Board ID. I guess I should get my own, eh?

I didn't write the "main" series storyline; that was Greg Pak, who is doing a great job...but thanks for the kind words. smile.gif

As for signed copies, please shoot me an e-mail at brandonjerwa@gmail.com and let's get it taken care of! All you need to do is send me your books packed safely, with an SASE included. I'll give you the address when I get your e-mail, ok?

Of course, we will be having ten signed copies of Zarek # 1 for some lucky board members, but I've left the details of that up to your trusty admins.

I hope to see you all here on the 5th. I know Richard is excited as well!

Well, that was easy! wink.gif Now I just have to get my hands on a hard copy!

I read the preview pages for issue #1 over on comicbookresources.com. Pretty good stuff! It explains alot about Zarek's motivations, something that hasn't been made apparent yet on screen. I think it will be interesting to see how he balances his desire to avenge his parents' death with his desire to do the right thing for the people.

PS- Brandon- dude. Your band is awesome. That's some great old school, dance/electronica you've got goin' on there! I notice the band name is SD6- Alias related by any chance?

Thanks, Viper Chic!

As for the band - yes, we are named after that most delightful pseudo-CIA organization from "Alias". I guess since the door has opened slightly for a plug, I'll take the opportunity...assuming I'm not violating any rules in the process.

The SD6 CD is now available for pre-order at http://www.industrial-music.com/artist.php?artist=SD6.

Sound clips are available at http://www.sd6online.com or http://www.myspace.com/sd6 if anyone cares to take a listen.

We are signed to 23DB Records, who say that we sound something like a cross between Depeche Mode and Underworld...

...and that's the end of my sales pitch.

B!

That's a pretty good description. It reminds me of the good old days of techno, back in the 80s, when it was all underground. I guess industrial is a better word for it. Kind of like old school Ministry or KMFDM mixed up with some DP or New Order. Good sh*t!

oh, yeah ... i just picked up all both of my copies of Zarek #1 and ...

i picked up all four of Battlestar Galactica # 4.

The one with Starbuck standing amidst all the shiny Centurians was in B/W only when I saw it at the site...

I'm sorta wondering why it was coloured in or if it was supposed to be coloured in all along.?

Would ber great to tlak to Richard again! I'd love to hear his thoughts on Zarek in comparison to Apollo in the original series. I think he's so much better in playing half bad-half good guy then just a good guy. Zarek is far more interesting than Apollo.

You mis-understand...

When I was at the site for Dynamite Entertainment and saved the images of the covers ... also because there will be a surprise cover here and there, The cover with Starbucky standing amidst the Shiny Centurians was in B/W and the one I just bought today is Inked in.

My question is:

Was it always supposed to be colourized.?

if not
Is their a cover out there somewhere in a fans hands that is in the B/W that was pre-ordered.?

Is so
who do i have to rob to get my hands on it.?

i thought this particualr issue in B/W on the cover as well as a couple others looks kinda cool and different.

Oh, I gotcha. Maybe the B&W was a preview, pre-ink?
