"It will be Doctor Who meets gangland. He will do a lot more thinking with his fists and will be a sure-fire winner with the ladies.
"Doctor Who is still seen as a bit geeky but Jason will add sex appeal and give the character a more dangerous edge." Isn't that exactly the opposite of what is great about Doctor Who? I assume this is just more of the Random Actor to Be Next Doctor Who that pops up every year. The list of rumored "Next Doctor Who" actors is quite prestigious. |

Argh, what is it with all these rumors of Tennant quitting?!? At this rate, if true, the turnover will be even quicker than during the 1980s in terms of Doctors leaving or being fired. I hope this is false. Why aren't the Doctors being locked up in 3-year contracts? I thought Tennant DID sign a 3-year contract, actually. Was I just imagining that?
I hope whoever takes the role, the Doctor is still written so that he's relatively anti-violence. I don't have an opinion on specific actors as such. I am unfamiliar with Mr. Statham's previous work. -------------------- "You know, when you're a kid, they tell you it's all, 'Grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that's it ...But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It's so much darker. And so much madder ... And so much better." (Elton, "Love & Monsters")

That one's a bigger stretch even than Chris Eccleston! http://uk.news.yahoo.com/03012007/364/stat...new-doctor.html Its also SOOOOO Obviously not true. For starters, he has too much of a film career to accept it, secondly, he wouldnt fit the profile of the Doctor, and one thing you can say about RTD is that he understands what Doctor Who is about. -------------------- "No, Mr Terrall, I am not a student of human nature. I am a professor of a much wider academy, of which the human being is merely a part... All forms of life interest me."

The rumor so far is that David Tennant is planning on leaving either after the fourth series or in the middle of the Fourth series. David Tennant already mention that he is planning on leaving soon from the series, but the question comes how soon. |

If that were true about Jason, then he would be the hottest Doc. to date. Move over McSteamy, McDreamy and McFabulous(that's what I call David) and welcome McHottie.

Whoever they choose, they need to have them sign a 3 or 4 year contract at a minimum before he is hired.

I mean how are we ever going to adjust to a Doctor if he keeps leaving in such a short period of time... Not to mention at this rate the Doctor will have used all of his regenerations....enjoy the shows.. |

I agree that I want to see Tennant do at least 3 or 4 seasons. As for Doctor 11, the Doctor need to be a redhead at least once.

Not to mention at this rate the Doctor will have used all of his regenerations....enjoy the shows.. First Doctor, played by William Hartnell (1963–1966) (three years) Second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton (1966–1969) (three years) Third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee (1970–1974) (five years and half) Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker (1974–1981) (Seven years) Fifth Doctor, played by Peter Davison (1981–1984) (three years) Sixth Doctor, played by Colin Baker (1984–1986) (three and half years) Seventh Doctor, played by Sylvester McCoy (1987–1989, 1996) (three years on screen) and the rest off screen except for the tv show. nine years total Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann (1996) (only one time) Ninth Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston (2005) (one year) Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant (2005–present) Just to let you know who10 even in the classic series most of the actors who played the Doctor only did the role of three years or less. |

Yeah, 3 years though, not 1 or 2 years. Only Colin Baker really put in less than three seasons in the classic series.
Tennant hopefully won't be leaving until almost the end of the fourth series, at the earliest. He needs to put in his three years. -------------------- "You know, when you're a kid, they tell you it's all, 'Grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Sixth Doctor, played by Colin Baker (1984–1986) (three and half years) Colin actually only did 2 years plus one episode. All of these rumors about Tennant's departure have been officially denied, by the BBC. Take that as you may.... Even if the rumors were true, it should be pointed out that at the end of the fourth season, when the rumors say he might go, he would have done three years in the role, the norm since the show began. Even if he left in "the middle" of the fourth season, it is likely he'll be there for at least 3/4s of the whole season in actuality, just enough time to introduce the new Doctor so they wouldn't have to do that again within the context of the Christmas special again. It's also worth noting that one reason you can't sign actors for multiple year contracts is because the BBC does not order more than one season of a show at a time. If it's a really well received show like Who, they sign for two seasons, and that was a big deal. The BBC has not officially asked for a fourth season yet, btw. This is just how things work on UK television..... |

I never heard of this actor, (JASON STATHAM) so did I gogole search just in case he turns up as Doctor, and was very verrry mucn NOT impressed. Maybe he is more impressive on action, but from the on line info and a couple of photos there I sure hope he does not get to be the new Doctor. |

i doubt statham would want to give up hollywood for the bbc at present.
i can not understand all the hullabaloo over tenant leaving. he has not left yet and i think he will do the average three years before moving onto the next stage in his career. i guess though poeple just like to guess about who the next unknown doctor will be when the time comes for ten to regenerate. i just say enjoy the tenth doc while he is here. |
