Datelined tomorrow, just went up online.

Next 'Battlestar' season will be the series' last

"After months of speculation, the show's producers will make the announcement at a press conference Friday."

Go read the rest if you like, I haven't the heart to copy and paste.

Every end is a beginning. In this case, it's a point in the history of sci-fi as a genre where we will be able to say "this is where the genre began to really get respect. Firefly and Farscape may have started it, but it was Battlestar Galactica that really got the ball rolling."

Look back and smile. Look forward to the next show, and the one after and REALLY smile.

Well, at least we finally know the truth. Hopefully, the final season will be a great one.

Thanks, EJO, for preparing me mentally for this potentially devastating news.

Seriously, it's sad to know it for sure, but I'd rather know now than find out with just a few episodes left. We can savor every moment with the full knowledge that the journey is almost over.

One season to wrap it up. Plenty of time. I'm very hopeful about this.

Better too soon than too late.

I was saddened by the news when I first heard of it a few weeks ago. They say time heals all wounds, but seeing it all in "print" still stung more than I had anticipated.

The only silver lining is that RDM would have been writing at least the last 10 episodes with the "definite end" in mind. We'll at least get a proper ending.

I am a little surprised by the mention of the 4th season being its last. I had thought the last 20 would be broken into 2 "mini seasons." Not that it would make any real difference in the grand scheme of the things, but perhaps in terms of airing shcedule?

As much as I would love a 5th season, I'd rather the decision to end at 4 be made now rather than halfway through the season. This way RDM can take the season to get where he wants to go instead of acting like there will be one more season, then having to rush at the end to make it work.

Having said that... BUMMER!!!!!!!!! I am already sad about the end and season 4 has not even started yet!

At least it lasted as long as Star Trek: Enterprise. Perhaps sci-fi should have run the re-imagined BSG on the channel and in First Run Syndication?

Since 99.99999% of shows are worse than BSG, that's just tragic.

But I guess you can't expect to run a presumably expensive series forever with 1.2 Neilsen ratings, even with strong DVD sales, podcasts, and other such things.

Entertainment Weekly proclaimed it "The Golden Age of Television" last year, becuase of the many, many great shows, including BSG, the Law and Order triad, etc....

Well, I think we are about to see the decline of that "Golden Age".

Wonder what SciFi will put in the BSG slot... They won't have any award-winning shows left after this....

I do have to agree with the others that said at least the show will end... Thanks to MrTerry for promising us and ending and (hopefully) delivering.

It's better to die young than to fade away... (is that right? I might have said that wrong, but y'all get the point!)

ah c'mon, buck up people. we knew this was coming when we saw a glimpse of Earth...

as for TOS POS'sers, yes, they'll gloat, over how BSG is cancelled, then they'll come on with their asinine comments...

"Adama was Spanish. Boomer was Asian."

"I guess they're too politically correct to have a Black guy playing a drunk"

"It's ridiculous that cylons are CGI. It just ruins the effect."

And so on, hey, at least the re-make lasted 4 seasons, the original lasted only 1.

Well thank the gods there is a definite answer and BSG will have a lot more deliberate and graceful exit than Babylon 5 or Farscape.
