With the show now officially over as a TV series, it is time to move onto the movies. So here is a thread to discuss the movies and what you would like to happen in the movies, who would you like to see in the movies, what you want to be avoided in the movies, and etc.

Mikita to direct Atlantis movie

Andy Mikita has been tapped to bring the first Atlantis movie to life. GateWorld recently caught up with the long-time Stargate director to discuss the assignment and Atlantis’s cancellation.

“It was Paul Mullie who had originally mentioned to me they were still uncertain as to whether or not there was going to be a Season Six of Atlantis,” Mikita told us. “At that time even when it was up in the air he knew that they were going to be writing a long form.

LOL, I need to keep the hype for SGA going strong. Yes, we need Todd for the movie. I hope they find a clever way to get Atlantis back to pegasus and we get a run in with those Asgards!

Wouldn't it be great if they could get TH to reprise her role in some form as Dr. Weir for the movie? It certainly should be possible since we're not asking her to commit to an entire season....

I was very pessimistic about the movie ever happening. There is now a ray of hope for the movie, though I wont go out and buy it. I'll find another way to view it. I think they should make it a mini-series. Then put it out to DVD. My guess is that the sales would be greater. I have box sets of the series even though I have seen all of the eps. I still need Season 4. Just haven't gotten around to getting it.
And I think they should try to get TH. I miss her. Though I like Robert Picardo just as much. They should get both of them, and scrap Keller. Definately have carson back, and all the rest of the cast.

You won't have to buy the movie because it will be shown on Skiffy for free!!! Then they will provide official copies to DVD pirates in China who will mass produce the movies for $1. After the market has been milked, they will then unveil the official DVD release. receive POOR sales and tell the fans, "sorry, no more SGA movies, the DVD sales sucked..."


As for TH and Robert Picardo, they both can be on!! Woolsey is THE LEADER now at Atlantis. TH should be brought back and her small little team of replicators. To make matter worse, the SGA crew needs to now also deal with Todd and his hive ships....it should be action packed!!!

This is what I would like to see in the "movie"


Atlantis is barely just back in the pegasus galaxy when the Genii contact them for help, Radim says he has been trying to contact them for months about a new threat that has arrisen. He asks the team to meet him on a planet that Shep's team has been on before and have traded with. When they step through the gate and get into town they notice everyone is missing, Keller having come with them for a welfare check on the citizens is apalled and remarks its just like Teyla's villiage, Teyla rebuffs and says there are no signs of violent struggle. At this point Shep looks at Teyla and says"You dont think..", to which Teyla answeres "I highly doubt this was Michael's doing, not even he could have survived that fall", to which McKay retorts "Wouldnt be the first time he came back from the dead" then everyone stops and looks at him "What? Im just saying, how many times did we think he died and how many times did that come back to bite us" everyone rolls their eyes and keeps moving..

At this point a small contingent of Genii come out and surround the team and ask them what they know about what happened. Shep and team fill them in on where they have been and of course the genii are incredulous that the milkway humans would just take the ancient city and leave pegasus behind undefended.

Just as it seems things are going to escalate to violence a wrath transport beam appears out of nowhere and scoops up half the genii troops, Everyone makes a break for the gate and are just able to make but at the last second Keller is scooped up along with the a few more Genii as she stopped to help one that fell down.

As Sheps team along with the surviving Genii make it through the gate McKay realizes Keller isnt with them and demands they take all the jumpers they have and go back to find her, Shep and Teyla tell them it would be pointless as the ship that took her could be anywhere by now, Ronon stands in quiet silence and McKay storms off after more harsh words and his idea gets rebuffed. The rest of the team inform Woolsey what happened and they remark that Teyla did not sense any wraith, nor were their any sounds of darts, the beam simply came out of nowhere.

After debriefing(see interogating) the genii that made it back Atlantis realizes that the reason teh genii knew about what happened was because they had a spy in the villiage and sent a team to check on her, thats when the found out the villiage was missing. They also inform them this isnt the first villiage found like this either, it has happened to 5 other planets. At this Woolsey remarks "if it wasnt the wraith and it couldnt have been Michael, who is responsible then?"



Cut to Keller waking up in a cell of unkown(yet somewhat familiar) design, as she trys to figure out where she is(and not freak out) 2 imposing figures in red suits enter(yes, those red suits). They then escort her to what appears like an almost identical med lab to atlantis where a rebel Asgard is working on a body, as they escort Keller through the door he turns around, behind him on the medical table you see what appears to be once a human, his skin is pale-ish grey color, with odd bone structrure in the face and skull, and it has 3 red indicator lights inserted into the skull and inch above the left eye. As Keller stares in shock and fear, the Asgard addresses her "you are a medical doctor, you are from atlantis. You will assist me with completing our drones or we will kill the children we have taken from the villages" Keller gulps and the camera zooms out, you see what appears to be a sister city to atlantis, most of the buildings have been damaged but the main tower and surrounding structures still stand and it appears to be in some sort of cave and at that....cut to commercial.


I am sure you can tell where it goes from there.

I should note, later on, there are wraith involved and yes, Todd plays a part and you get to find out that atlantis actually had to fight the IOA from taking him and vivasecting him for scientific purposes.

I would like a longer movie. 2 hours isn't enough. I really like how they did the 3 hour movie for farscape. Long movies are always more gooder.

Just seems funny how everyone wants a new cast for the movie when they cant replace the old one. It wouldnt look good at all and would really leave a bad taste in people's mouth's don't you think, so they would have to have the old cast back. If you look at imdp.com and search stargate altantis and look at cast it says they are working on a untitled stargate project, I know it might be jumping the gun but it does make sense for them not to say yeah we are working on the movie at this time. The only real thing we can do is hope and pray that they will make the movie and the same cast would be back.

Yeah really didn't understand that statement myself.

Actually getting a new cast would be a horrible idea. It would probably kill the movie before it even started. I don't think anyone would want SGA without the main cast, plus it would help also if they had as many of the secondary characters as possible they could get, characters like Radek and Cadwell for example.

Your previous comment on getting the Weir character back would be awsome also, hopefully there is not the bad blood between the actress and the producers that we've heard. I always liked her character and think it would be intreasting to see her interaction with Woosly.

New Cast? The actors have been approached and they are very happy to pursue the movies. They will likely do more of them if they are made avaliable. It gives them work and time to pursue other gigs. A movie does not take as long to film as an entire season does.

I like this premise...now can you kill off Keller?

Im not one for giving up on anything I would really love to see some movies and if god willing letting the writers and producers realize after making the dvd movie that they made a mistake and try and bring Atlantis back for 1 more season.

What was meant by just putting "cast" is we have long speculated (or at least I will speak for myself) that one of the reasons for the cancellations is due to the cast not wanting to do the series any longer. We just wanted to make sure they secure the "old" cast before this movie is made thus just plainly putting the word cast to what is needed.

I expect that they won't make it.

Ok young lady, whose being the pessimistic one.....hmmmmm? That's my job. Lets all think good thoughts, and concentrate on the the fact that they are getting all their ducks in a row for this movie...though I will say it again...I would rather have a mini-series.....
