Perhaps you meant: "Fox did not renew *terminator*, *let's* show *our* *support* for SCI FI to bring *terminator* to *their* network."

In which case, I would reply: "Don't waste your time."

I think it would be better to petition The CW to pick up TSCC. Warner Brothers produces the show and it is half owner of The CW. Plus they need another SF/F hour since it doesn't look like Reaper will be renewed and both Smallville and Supernatural are probably going to end their runs next year.

Here is a copy of an email I sent to SciFi channel. It is possibly the most important email they will ever receive, unless they do nothing and fail.

**************************************************************************

Hello, I will make this quick. SciFi channel needs, no, must go after the Sarah Conner Chronicles and make it your own. This is a no brainer. With Terminator Salvation coming out, the Show could and should do gang busters on the proper channel and the right time. This is probably the easiest programming decision that would ever have to be made for any channel any where at any time.

StarGate was a great save and this should be even bigger. This is the time and destiny is calling your channel for the greater good. Do not pass on this opportunity. It is a no brainer. It is not even open for debate, Sarah Conner Chronicles would be a big hit on SciFi. If it is not pursued, relentlessly, than SciFi will have to change its name to "We hate SciFi". It is only the most obvious decision to come down the road in the history of TV. Just think where SciFi would be if they were around in 1969 and took on a little known show called Star Trek. SciFi could have changed HISTORY, and this is possibly the next big chance to do so.

Do not just reply to me, get this to the heads of the Channel, you will be a hero in 1 years time. Do not stop for anything, until the top of the top and the best of the best at SciFi see this and show to the world why there is a SciFi channel. This is irrefutable. Just Do It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make the words of Arnold the slogan and the PR to get the audience in a frenzy for the return of the show. Use the "I'll Be Back" quote as insurance for getting a huge audience as the show is "Back" on SciFi. Heck get Arnold involved with a guest shot or some PR. This is about as easy money and HONER that could be bestowed on the SciFi channel since its inception.

Although I agree 100% that Scifi, or any other channel for that matter, should pick up and continue "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" it will never happen, at least not on Scifi. Why? Because the big brains at Scifi have already passed on the vastly more popular series "Jericho" and "Moonlight", so why would they pick up a less popular, equally expensive show to make? They won't, trust me. Unless Warner Brothers decides to basically give the show away for free, which they won't, there isn't a prayer for the show on Scifi. Sorry, I know it sucks, but it ain't gonna happen.

Virtually impossible - ratings were dismal. That it got a second season was amazing in itself.

I stuck with until the first bit of S2, but with ratings dropping like a rock I bailed because I didn't want to get hooked on a show and have it canceled (a la Journeyman, Firefly, et al.).

I can't find anywhere where I can compare the ratings from the end of Season 1 to the beginning of Season 2, all I can find is the average for both seasons. Season 1 had an average of 11 million viewers per episode(18 million for the premiere) and Season 2 had an average of 4.5 Million viewers per episode which is more than a 50% drop in viewership. From my own personal research about television ratings I have concluded that each network has it's own expectations for shows that air at certain times on certain nights but the *Magic* number, as far as ratings are concerned, seems to be 8 million viewers(not true for The CW). A show that can draw at least 8 million viewers per episode is, depending on cost, guaranteed to be renewed. This *system* was very heart breaking for the fans of the series "Jericho" which consistently had around 6.6 million viewers, to be that close and still get canned is a tough pill to swallow. On the other hand, the series "Dollhouse" which has never had anywhere near 8 million viewers gets renewed which completely baffled everybody including it's own fans. I am sure that after the "Firefly" experience, Joss Whedon had some kind of, unknown to us, clause built into the contract for "Dollhouse" that forced FOX to give the show at least 2 seasons, that's the only logical explanation for their decision. "Dollhouse" got terrible ratings, it does not have a *cult* following, everyone I've ever talked to about the show thinks it's "so-so" at best. Even die hard "Buffy" and "Firefly" fans don't think "Dollhouse" quite measures up and consider it a let down, especially after all the hype.

I suspect the "20th Century Fox vs. Warner" argument you made in the other thread is closer to the truth. I find it completely implausible, in light of Firefly, that Whedon secured a 2-season guarantee... nor is it an argument that I've seen suggested anywhere else.

I just came up with this one, LOL tongue.gif But it makes perfect sense to me, FOX could dump the show and broadcast a rerun of "House" instead and get better ratings.

I think, and have no idea if this would have been successful or not, that FOX should have tried all their Scifi shows together on a different night, maybe Wednesday. Have "Fringe", "Dollhouse" and "Sarah Connor" all on the same night, that would have been awesome. People say "isn't it great that Fringe has "American Idol" as a lead in?" and I say, "how many of the morons that watch AI actually watch or understand Fringe?", I would venture to guess very few. I have to watch the tail end of AI every Tuesday because for some reason it runs long every week. Maybe it's people waiting to see "Fringe" that help AI's ratings not the other way around.

Wiki has TSCC ratings by episode.

Season 2 began with a little over 6M and crashed into the 3M range.

Thanks for the link. It provides hard evidence for something I stated earlier in a different thread, "TSCC"'s ratings truly got flushed down the toilet during the 3 episode stretch of "The Good Wound", "Desert Cantos" and "Some Must Watch, While Some Must Sleep", which were not only boring episodes but directly coincided with the move from Monday to Friday nights and yet another hiatus in the show.

Hi all

First off, I really don't think it is for anyone here to say what Sci-Fi will or won't do. Lets not try and end threads before they have even got going. I have been around a few forums and moderated and administrated some. One thing I always asked longer-term members is don't try and influence the outcome of threads before they've even got going, because that doesn't allow a forum to advance, and new ideas to enter it.

T:SCC is not like any other show I can remember. Yes, viewer numbers were low. But the support that has surrounded this show, the various major polls that have been voted on, and the general views of fans make this show quite exceptional. It does not necessarily compare with other shows with similar viewer ratings.

The main thing about T:SCC is that the writers gave the storyline an intelligent edge. Unfortunately that is clearly not for everyone. However, it would seem silly to overlook the huge support that T:SCC has. And that makes me think the Sci-Fi channel would be a good home for it. Clearly, the type of fan is one that is likely to be watch every episode and get involved. It's a guaranteed 2-3 millions dedicated viewers, on top of the new ones that I think season 2 and the various polls and strong fan base could bring in. Plus, I imagine there are quite a few Sci-Fi fans that wouldn't have taken the show seriously on Fox, but might if on the Sci-Fi channel.

My opinion is T:SCC could have a great home here. Not everyone may agree with that, but it is worth discussing. It's certainly worth us T:SCC fans making that point to the Sci-Fi channel and its community as best we can. Based on current T:SCC forums, the general fanbase could be a real asset to this place.

And finally, nice to be in a Sci-Fi focused place once more. It's been a while.....

This show is a perfect fit for SciFi. It didn't work on network tv because it has a niche audience. The only show I can think of that rivals the quality of TSCC is BSG. Bear McCreary, the composer of both shows including Caprica, makes a great case for the show on his blog.

OK since we're sharing letters.....
Title:To SVP Craig Engler. "TSCC on Syfy"‏

Hi,
I'm a huge fan of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and I'm just writing to suggest that Syfy picks up this show now that FOX has canceled it. A lot of us TSCC fans think that the Syfy network is the best one to feature this amazing show in their programming line-up right now. I personally think this show would be a great addition to this network since Syfy (a.k.a. Sci-Fi) seems to be undergoing some new and exciting changes.

I really hope that you will consider this request, because TSCC has a huge and very loyal fanbase and believe me, you will not regret adding this show to your network (even if its on a smaller budget, we really value character development more than big and fancy explosions anyways). Also, If you're worried about the licensing fees for having the word "Terminator" in the title, you don't need to be. us fans are open to a change in the title (just calling it "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for example). Also, the show went two seasons without referring to the enemy as "terminators." They usually called them "machines" and "metal" and the fans have really grown to and accept that lingo as canon in the franchise. Anyways, I digress. I my point was just to let you know that TSCC fans are open to compromise, you know?

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Syfy" -- Can you Imagine (anything) Greater than that?

Thank you for taking you time out to read this and I hope you have a great day!

Rory Ocean

PS: I'm really looking forward to Caprica, it looks really good.

maybe it was cheesy, but it doesn't hurt right?

This a very different thing.
They were much worse series.
Maybe they had better advertising. (And do not mean "more expensive" but actually better.)
That's why.

Scifi Channel also seems to be a bit lacking in scifi, TSCC would fit their programming perfectly, could probably be bought relatively cheaply and become their flagship show as happened on Virgin 1.
There is money to be made out of it.
Unlike Fox, Scifi shows its shows several times to fit the peoples different lifestyles, apparently Fox only showed once on Fridays.
