Here's what's advertised as being on the bonus disc:

DISC 4 BONUS MATERIAL
A Disquiet Follows My Soul Unrated Version
Islanded in a Stream of Stars Unrated Version
Deleted Scenes: Sometimes A Great Notion, A Disquiet Follows My Soul
Deleted Scenes: The Oath, Blood On The Scales, No Exit, Deadlock
A Sneak Peek at Caprica
David Eick's Video Blogs
What the Frak is Going On With Battlestar Galactica?
The Face Of The Enemy Webisodes
Sci-Fi.com Web Featurettes
Deleted Scenes: Daybreak
A Look Back

The source - http://www.universal-playback.com/battlest...inal-season-dvd

But, on my disc is only:

A Disquiet Follows My Soul Unrated Version
A Sneak Peek at Caprica
David Eick's Video Blogs
What the Frak is Going On With Battlestar Galactica?
Deleted Scenes: Daybreak

I don't care too much about deleted scenes separate from the show, or the featurettes, but I really want the extended episodes... and I only have one. I'd also like the webisodes! What's going on? Is anyone else really annoyed by this?

Is your dvd legitimate, or a pirate/illegal copy?

AFAIK, the 4.5 DvD aren't released yet. 07/28/2009 is the release date, I think.

How could you have legitimate copies?

No, it has the special features listed on the back. It's just a shame they advertised it featuring so much more...

No, that's about right. They release the BSG discs early in Europe but takes away bonus features.
I guess they figure since you're getting it early then you don't deserve everything.
This has occurred with all the past seasons as well. So it's not a new occurrence.
So yes, UK Universal is screwing you over.
If I was you, I would consider complaining but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The French S4.5 will be available on August 25th... If we are lucky, there will be more than on the UK release (there is always a French and an English soundtrack)

This isn't that unusual a practice. You see a lot of it with console games. It used to be that US releases of Japanese games had a fair amount of content and features removed. That still happens, but more often what you'll see today is that the US/European actually get extras when compared to the original Japanese version. So, what they'll do is re-release the enhanced US/European version in Japan with even more extras and bonus content. These almost never make it back out of Japan. Both phenomena, however, go back to the same basic thing: it's a form of favoritism. The Japanese game companies, for all the money they make overseas, still see those markets as secondary in some ways. I suspect something similar is going on here. Universal likely thinks the US is the most important market, and so they add more bonus content, counting on people here doing one of two things:

a. Buying the UK release early because they want it now, then buying it again because they have to have that bonus content.
b. Keeping the less fanatically devoted from picking up an import copy, which hurts sales in the US, thereby making various retailers unhappy.

I'm sure there are all sorts of licensing and other economic factors which motivate this behavior, but, ultimately, what it comes down to is that if they cared about the potentially lost business in other markets due to this practice, they wouldn't do it.

You are correct; mine is the same. A review of the set even mentioned that it included the Face Of The Enemy webisodes, but no sign of them. I guess they're holding all that stuff back for the complete series box set.

I thought that might be the case, but the webisodes actually aren't listed as being included there at all...

What annoys me is not the fact that the content is removed for this release - I can understand all kinds of reasons why that might be the case - but I don't like buying something based on a lie. That's false advertising, and I'm fairly certain there's laws against that.

But in the end, they win - I'll just have to buy the US version as well. dry.gif

Or hold out for the complete sets.

This is why I haven't bought it yet. I'm in England too, and still haven't got over the fact our S3 boxset didn't have the extented version of Unfinished Business, not a huge fan of that one, but its the principal. We always get screwed over on the bonus features. I've got a copy of a region 2 and 4 version of S2, which has some special features (more than the UK region 2 one did) probably wait for it to be released on the same format. Its released over here on the PLAYBACK label, meaning naff presentation, lousy transfer and they still charge 35+ quid for it.

I didn't know about the extended Unfinished Business; we really do get screwed something royal over here. No excuses for it, in my opinion. I want as many of the special features as posible, so I guess I'm going to have the get the complete sets (I'm not sure if there's anything on the DVD version that wont be on the Blu-Ray) and the Region 1 copies of the mini and Season One (as I think there's some stuff that hasn't been put on the complete or Region 2 releases...

I bought the regions 2 and 4 version and yes, I got it. I think it is on the standard region 2 release as it was aired in its extended version, like LayDownYourBurdensPt2. A noticeable weird thing on both sets though is that although we got the whole of season 2 in one box, we only got extras for the first half. Why is it that everyone involved in marketing BSG is completely *****?

The French release of S4.5 has been rescheduled to September 22nd. I think this means we will get the extras, especially the extended Islanded and Daybreak...

I just found out that Razor is included in this new set which I bought it when it first came out, and I refuse to double-purchase an item even if it means not buying this new BSG set.
Now what about the fans who already bought the DVD season sets over the last few years? Are they going to buy this release just because there are new extras? I hope y'all make a wise financial decision especially considering the way the economy is these days.
