I've been nosing around the L.A. Times forums lately (they're the best source for the pre-Emmys buzz) and found the official submissions for the show. Not sure if they're 100% accurate, but if anyone is curious, here is the list:

WRITING
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/685107714

Jane Espenson, "Gravedancing"
Michael Taylor, "Ghost in the Machine"

DIRECTING
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/685107714

Michael Nankin, “There Is Another Sky”

LEAD ACTOR
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/206107714

Eric Stoltz
Esai Morales

SUPPORTING ACTRESS
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/116107714

Magda Apanowicz
Paula Malcomson
Alessandra Torresani
Polly Walker

SUPPORTING ACTOR
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/116107714
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/136107104

Sasha Roiz
Brian Markinson

GUEST ACTOR
http://goldderbyforu...764/m/816107714

Patton Oswalt
James Marsters
John Pyper-Ferguson

The show will probably be as overlooked as Battlestar was and these picks aren't really controversial, but since it's the dry season, I'm starting a poll to see where everyone's tastes lie.

I wish the poll allowed for multiple votes or some type of ranking for top 3, but i went with 'There is Another Sky'. This episode is where the first half really started to come together. The Tauron ceremony, Daniel's speech, not to mention Tamara-A's step to the 'fore; just awesome all around.

all of this has happened before... it's time for the customary well deserved technical nomination and more nothing and notta for writing, directing, acting or music. <_<

2010 Emmy Nominations: Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series

Caprica There Is Another Sky

Gary Hutzel, VFX Supervisor
Michael Gibson, VFX Producer
Doug Drexler, CGI Supervisor
Jesse Toves, CGI Artist
Kyle Toucher, CGI Artist
Pierre Drolet, CGI Modeler
Heather McAuliff, VFX Compositor
Derek Ledbetter, VFX Compositor
Dave Morton, CGI Artist

The competing nominees:
  • CSI "Family Affair"
  • (HBO) The Pacific "Part One"
  • (HBO) The Pacific "Part Five"
  • Stargate Universe "Air"
  • Stargate Universe "Space"
  • V (pilot)
  • Virtuality (pilot)
Hutzel, Gibson, Drolet, McAuliff, Ledbetter are all nominated twice for their work in Caprica and Virtuality. An exceptionally strong field this year. Snubbed: the good ship Antares from Defying Gravity. Looming Avatar like domination: The Pacific threatens to sweep the Emmys. Although Avatar failed to dominate the Oscars quite like expected, upstaged by the ex-wife that could. :)

Cheers to all the BSG/Caprica in house crew!

agreed! that episode is where the season really started for me. previous eps were nice, and i liked the pilot, but that episode switched gears.

whatever happened to virtuality? i really liked it. i'm assuming it isn't getting picked up for a series, but was it ever released on dvd?

Do they have a category called "Hottest Teenage girls in a scifi series"? <_<

If they do then I think Caprica should get a nomination hands downs. In the other category...sorry guys!
