I was wondering when this show would get it's own forum. We've been discussing it down in the General Discussion forum for some time now. The report is that Syfy will not edit the show from the way it was broadcast on Showcase in Canada, and if that turns out to be true be prepared for some complaints about language and sexual situations. Perhaps they shot alternate footage for other markets. We shall see.

Considering they've put the same level of sex (to a degree) in shows like Battle Star Galactica and Star Gate Universe I don't see it as a problem. Its not like you get to see more than side boob and backs for the most part.

I've been watching the show on Showcase and I have to tell people, the first half of the first season is the most sex heavy (I take it, as an attention grabber) but it really tones down by the second half and in the second season. There are of course the Succubus moments.

Also have to applaud this show for using a Succubus as opposed to the "go to" monster, the vampire. There is so little out there with Succubi that isn't just out right porn.

So we can add Bo to the very short list with Morrigan Aensland and Lillith Aensland as the butt-kicker Succubi.

Rhuen - I'm down with your comment about not using yet another vampire, but succubi are the very core of porn, that's their purpose - to be temptresses - and they sure as heck aren't proffering a plate of un-wrapped hostess fruit pies as bait. At least vampires have powers like turning into bats or a cloud of smoke - succubi flash T&A.

Almost everything the modern vampire has going for it was stolen from the Succubus/Incubus or other creatures such as Alps.

the Succubus/Incubus is the only demon said to be immune to exorcisms, can shape shift, pass through walls, fly, there is even a case where an Incubus manifested a brick wall out of nothing to cut off some priest from bothering it, turn invisible, change gender, hypnotize, turn into all variety of animals (some Eastern Orthodox churches have tried to claim pagan gods were Succubi and Incubi. IN fact in western Europe they essentially were demofied fertility gods).

they are powerful in the folklore. Certainly not deserving of the Over Lord arm candy role they are constantly given in fantasy.

they use their charms and seduction for their own ends, more pleasure, for power, and to reproduce (its a weird version from Italy that turns into a woman to gets a man's semen, somehow alters it to their own, turns into an Incubus, and then impregnates a woman who gives birth to a 'cubi which the 'cubi parent then steals away to raise). That alone right there earns them a spot as being very Faerie like.
